Now I am back

Sweater- Starr's moving sale:: Jeans- Aero:: Crossbody- Arizona Fleamarket:: Mocassins- Minnetonka:: Necklace- Made by me

I know it has been a while since my last post, but when you're sick there's not much to talk about.  This oversized sweater has been what I have been wearing for the past week, it is just too comfy!  I picked it up for just two dollars at Starr's moving sale.  It has been warm for these unexpected cold days in Arkansas. It feels extra cold coming back from the warm weather in Arizona.  A friend of mine gave me a bag of broken and mismatched jewelry.  A stretched out teal and gold bracelet caught my attention. Fringe inspired the overall design, I think it turned out really cute.  Maybe I should make one for a blog giveaway.  What do you think?

The pictures below are of my work space and where all my creativity happens

The Buckhorn Motel

Every year on Spring Break, my family travels to Arizona to visit my grandparents.  Close by their house is a really cool place called the Buckhorn Baths Motel.  It was closed in 1999 and was quickly overgrown by desert agriculture.  I have noticed that the past couple of years it has been slowly fixed up.   One of the cool things on the property is a retaining wall made from old indian grinding stones. This is the place where cowboys would come into town and exchange indian grinding stones for a hot soak. I wish we could look farther but there are a lot of Keep Out signs posted everywhere.  My grandparents said that there was an article in the paper about it saying that since the 103 year old owner died, its about time that a commercial site be built there. ( Walgreens is across the street ).   But is appears that it has been bought and that person has been making it beautiful again.

I thought it would be fun to do a photo shoot by my favorite Arizona landmark.

Ballet costumes....just getting started

This spring our local ballet studio is preforming Alice In Wonderland.  This is quite a big production, over 100 costumes to make or alter!  I am also making some of the headpieces to go with the costumes! The tulle shown in the pictures is for the wildflowers.  The purple and periwinkle colors will have a dark purple bodice ( The top part of a tutu ) and the pink and coral colors will have a hot pink bodice.  I sewed for 4 hours today, so I am exhausted but really excited about the unique and crazy costumes!!

Where Heather and Rebecca sew.

All of our fabrics to choose from.

Heather fitting bodices. The red bodice is part of the Pack of Cards tutu.

Counting all of the pieces to sew and finish. ( There are 12 skirts + 24 layers per skirt. Phew! )

These are the pieces for the wildflower tutus. I love how all of the electric sherbet colors will pop on the stage.

My sewing corner.

ps. In the next couple of weeks there will be more posts about costumes and pictures of the finished costumes. Stay posted!

What I found and what I wore

I cant wait to dive in!

This dress was one I considered buying but didnt after I saw the price tag. ( I am a cheap estate sale shopper )

One of the pairs of earrings that I bought.

These are all of the chains I bought.

What do you think of the birds I purchased?

I am so excited that Estate and garage sales are starting back up in full swing!  This morning I went to an  two Estate Sales!  Excitement was in the air in digging through the piles of vintage goodies.  I usually bee line towards the bedroom closets while my Mom and sister just meander through the house.  I get pumped up about the closets, especially when they are stuffed.  All three of the closets were stuffed to the max.  But surprisingly most of the clothes were suit sets and pants.  Today I found a funky floral shirt and a really cool knit vest.  I am probably going to wear my new shirt tucked into the short I wore today.  I am not quite sure of how I am going to wear the vest yet.  ( I did not get the scarf in the picture. To me 6.00 is a bit much for a scarf and besides I dont really wear scarves that much. )  Also I got a lot of chains to use in my jewelry creations.  Spring and summer are a good time to stock up because is seems like in the winter there is not as many jewelry stuff to choose from.  Hey maybe its just because it cold and I dont really want to go out in the blustery weather to garage and Estate Sales.  The pictures below are what I wore to both Estate Sales.

St. Pattys Day

Cardigan- Thrift Store::: Shirt- Target::: Pants- Forever 21::: Shoes- Old Navy::: Necklace- Forever 21

Happy St. Patricks Day everyone! Today I wore my hair up in a ponytail because I have been sewing like a mad woman trying to get ballet bodices done for fitting on Saturday. I have been doing more costume sewing, along with making some of the headpieces, for the ballet studio my sister dances in. The production is Alice in Wonderland ( phew and there is over 100 costumes to make or alter! ). The warm weather has been a surprise because last year it was freezing! Today I have been eating all irish meals, Oatmeal for breakfast, Sourkraught and turkey sausage for lunch, and beef stew with potatoes for dinner! ( Although I dont like sourkraught. Mom and my sister loved it. ) So what Irish kinda things have you done today?
