Out among the trees

It was a gorgeous day outside, not only to take pictures but to bask in the sunshine after the winter coldness. Yesterday I went thrifting and found some vintage items. I have always admired what other people have found thrifting but never found anything spectacular or interesting. But I was pleased with what I found.

I am excited about the very vintage clothes and styles that are coming out and are popular this year. The high waisted items are easy for my skinny self to fit into and are super comfy!

Look once, Look twice

My latest obsession is the collage barrettes that I have made.

For me, inspiration comes from many places. The past couple of days I have spent inside because of the weather so it gave me some time to sort through and reorganize my tackle box. I came across things that would be great as a center piece in a barrette collage. The pink and blue piece in the barrette pictured above came from the bottom of a dirty sewing basket. I wonder how it made its way to the bottom, out of site until I came and rescued it. The big crystal piece came off of a vintage ring I bought from a local shop. The 2 flowers that are tucked under it were screaming for me to buy them on Etsy.  My Mom has memories of buying the kitty button to use in a project for my baby clothes or accesories. The pink button that looks cute with it was bought when I went to a Piano Camp and stopped in a tiny antique store on the way. The first barrette shown displays some of my unique buttons that I have collected over the years from Estate Sales and fleamarkets.

What I found and what I wore

This past Friday I went Estate Sale shopping. There was only 1 sale and it was just a few blocks away from my house. This is what I wore to the sale.

I was so excited about what I got at the sale. The white thing is a vintage sequined hat that I snagged for 5 dollars! There were so many beautiful earrings, it was hard to narrow it down to the six pairs that I bought.

The gold pair of earrings with the crystal drops are the ones I am keeping for myself, the rest are going to be used in my jewelry creations as shown below.

This piece has a vintage sparkly pin on top of a metal piece from a garage sale. I love the contrast of the gold chain with the tarnished silver and gold pieces.
