I visited my old elementary school with my mom to help update the paint colors inside. Going there and walking the halls, seeing my elementary teachers brought back so many memories. I remember thinking that the cafeteria was so big but since I am taller and older it does not seem as big as in my memory and the bathroom counters seem so short. My kindergarten year was spent in another building on the opposite side of town. Once I moved up into 1st grade the school had changed locations and changed their name. In the paper a couple of weeks ago, the school had over 100 graduates. Over the years I have watched the school change, they now have a new gym built ( When I was young they had a big white temporary dome building for the gym ) , there were covered walkways, the plants were more mature, etc. Even though I have not been to a traditional school since third grace ( I am homeschooled ) , I have had so many opportunities to do other things that I would not be able to do if I was still in traditional school. Such as really being able to focuse on my music ( Piano, Dulcimer ) , and having the time to do creative art, and sewing for a local ballet studio. People ask me if I miss not being in school, I can honestly say " No " because I can do lots of things and gain more life skills than I would have been able to if I was in a school setting.
