How did you come up with your blog name? 

I had the hardest time coming up with one and so I started to think about all the nicknames I have had and Gee was my family nickname and then sitting next to me was my favorite stuff animal from childhood..my sock monkey. So, Sock Monkey and Gee was born! :P

Your photography is so beautiful, do you have any tips? 

I wish I did. I have a cheap camera and am a horrible photographer ..I do not use one of those wonderful DSLR camera's or anything.  Thankfully my husband take my pictures when he can. The only thing I would say is, when posting on your blog make sure you use big pictures so people can see what you are wearing and make sure they are not dark. I always take my photos outside. You can never look bad in natural light. 

What is your favorite fashion era? (50's, 60's etc) 

I would say the 60's. All the patterns and colors are so beautiful. I wish I lived in the 60's sometimes or wished my mother kept her clothes from the 60's! :P

If you could indulge yourself in a food, what would it be? 

It would be a tie between mac n' cheese and bagels and cream cheese. I obviously love carbohydrates and cheese. haha

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? 

Paris ... hands down. I want to spend many hours wandering around in The Louvre 

If your house was burning and you could grab only 1 clothing item, what would it be? 

My wedding dress. It is irreplaceable.

What blogs are inspiring you right now? 

Oh goodness, a lot of them. Here is a few.. The Hummingbird Girls, Here's looking at me kid, Busy Bee Lauren, Steffy's Pros and Cons, Lost in the Haze, etc.....

Where do you get daily inspiration for your outfits?

I find almost all of my inspiration from other bloggers around the internet. My two favorite blogs above any others are Flashes of Style and Fancy Treehouse, i think they combine my girly side and my vintage side... and they both give me new ideas every day!

If you could have an unlimited clothing budget where would you spend it?

I would spend all of my budget at my two favorite thrift stores... urban jungle in brooklyn and flamingo plaza in miami!

 What is your morning routine?

hm, well it depends. it always begins with grabbing my computer on the floor next to my bed and reading through e-mails and commenting on my fav. blogs on bloglovin. then i usually go for a 3 mile run or to the gym, followed by picking up an iced coffee either at cafe demetrios, the french restaurant or starbucks! these are the productive days though... :)

Your shop is called Tea and Tulips, is there a story behind the name or was it just a name that you liked?

ha! I originally opened the shop with my best bud sara, and we brainstormed via fb chat (she was in colombia at the time) for weeks before we decided on that name. we thought it was classy!

Where do you like to go thrifting and do you have any tips?

i thrift basically anywhere with reasonably priced clothes. i am always scoping out new places to go, and making the treck to random ghetto areas in miami where the best stores tend to be. my number one tip is to pick a color scheme. whether it be your favorite color or the color you like the most at the moment, this helps you to narrow down the type of items you are looking for. OR i make a list of what is missing most in my wardrobe before i even enter the store. 

 What are your favorite color combos right now?

i am loving rusty browns mixed with pastel pinks right now. maybe because that is what i have on today.. ha! 

 And lastly, what are your favorite summer ideas and trends for fashions right now?

my all time favorite summer trends are pleated skirts, thin material trousers and anything that can save me from the florida heat!

When you go thrifting, do you have certain items in mind or do you just go and have an open mind?

·         It honestly just depends. I’m always on the hunt for oxfords, boots, florals. But I usually just go with an open mind and things just end up working out.

What bloggers inspire you right now?

Ahh, SO many. I love Kristine. Or Polly.( http://kristinemachine.blogspot.com/), The Four Sister  Say  More is More (http://sisters4saymoreismore.blogspot.com), I believe in unicorns (http://writingrainbows.blogspot.com/), Wearing it on my Sleeves(http://wearingitonmysleeves.blogspot.com/), The Daybook (tandsdaybook.blogspot.com), I have so many people I pretty much worship, but I probably stalk these ladies the most.

You had mentioned about having about 100 pairs of shoes, where do you keep them all?

·         I have a shoe wall... It’s a little ridiculous to be honest. They’re really book selves but I put all of my shoes on them…

Do you have any hobbies besides blogging? ( If you call that a hobby )

·         I LOVE sewing and reconstructing clothing. It’s my favorite, I love hiking and being outdoors, I love playing basketball, reading, just the usual everyday activities.

Do you plan your outfits the night before or is it an adventure in the morning putting together clothing combinations to wear?

·         When I’m going to school, I usually think of the outfit the night before, just so it saves time. But when I’m home for school, it’s just an adventure in the morning of what to wear!

Have you ever had any fashion faux pas?

·         Hm, well I love high wasted pants… so I guess I could be a victim of “mom jeans”

What would your dream day consist of?

·         Just being around the people I love, thrifting, laughing, just enjoying the blessings I’m given. I’m easy to please :)
